A renewable, inexpensive, brown liquor by-product of the paper industry, called lignin (biopolymer), forms interpenetrating networks with conjugated polymer and is used for charge storage. The goal is to understand and to improve the charge storage capacity of the biopolymer/conjugated polymer interpenetrating networks. The charge storage capacity of the interpenetrating networks is significantly enhanced by co-inserting the electroactive dopant.
