The electrochemically redox-active, transition-metal-containing hydroxides (Co and Ni) have high specific capacitances, which are favorable for high energy density storage. However, the intrinsic low electric conductivity restricts the performance at high power densities. Simple chemical treatment of Ni-Co-Al layered hydroxides in alkaline solution greatly enhanced the electrochemcial performance at high current densities.
