Increasing the stability and energy density are key factors in the development and eventual acceptance of redox flow batteries for grid-scale energy storage. In article 1300566, Travis M. Anderson, Mitchell R. Anstey, and co-workers demonstrate that electrolytes comprising redox “non-innocent” ligands, which store equivalents of charge separate from the metal center, are a new avenue for electrical energy storage.
