The formation of C-N, C-C and C-S bond between ferrocenyl alcohol and nucleophiles was achieved. The reaction was performed in aqueous medium and catalyzed by 5 mol% Bi(NO3)3·5H2O at room temperature, without further addition of surfactants. By nucleophilic substitution in this system, a series of ferrocenyl derivatives were obtained in moderate to good yields.
