High and mighty: Octahedral SnO2 particles bound by high-index {332} facets were synthesized by a simple hydrothermal route using SnCl2⋅5 H2O as the tin salt with the assistance of hydrochloric acid and poly(vinylpyrrolidone). These particles show excellent selective gas sensing performance because they have large numbers of dangling bonds on their surfaces.
