The production of recombinant proteins in the milk of non-transgenic goats can be achieved by transducing the mammary gland with recombinant adenoviral vectors. In this study, the authors evaluate a biosafety profile for recombinant protein production in this system. They detect adenoviral particles in different body fluids, as well as the antibody response after adenoviral transduction. They demonstrate that recombinant adenoviral vectors can be used to produce high levels of recombinant protein in the milk of non-transgenic goats with a high biosafety profile.
