The interaction between nanoparticles and DNA is of significance for their application. In this article, the authors use atomic force microscopy (AFM) to investigate nanoparticle-DNA interactions with quantum dots as a model nanoparticle on a single-molecule level. Experimental evidence shows that the interaction of DNA with nanoparticles changes the conformation of DNA, which may subsequently affect DNA functions.
