Myriaporone phosphorylates eEF2: The marine polyketide myriaporone has been shown to inhibit translation, but the mode of action was unknown. We now report that myriaporone 3/4 inhibits translation by inducing phosphorylation of elongation factor 2. Our results suggest that myriaporone 3/4 is a potential antiangiogenic drug lead.
