Two birds with one nanostone: A nanopalladium catalyst is highly efficient in Suzuki cross-coupling reactions and transfer hydrogenation of alkenes, resulting in 1) coupling of a wide range of aryl halides with various boronic acids in high yields and 2) chemoselective reduction of a variety of alkenes with 1-methyl-1,4-cyclohexadiene as a hydrogen donor. The “green” catalyst can be recycled several times without any decrease in activity.
