Stepping into the colloid: FIB-SEM analysis of NanoSelect Pd catalysts shows that the metal does not enter the pores of the support. This is the most likely cause of the high selectivity of these catalysts in the semi-hydrogenation of 3-hexyn-1-ol, although an effect of the stabilizer cannot be ruled out.
