Over 18s: Clusters of phosphorus and arsenic containing 18 to 168 atoms have been studied by quantum-chemical calculations. The families of one-dimensional polymers X18+12n (X=As, P) are predicted to be more stable than other structures investigated so far. Islands of stability further result for ring-shaped clusters of type X24n (see picture for P120).
