An electrosynthesis process, which allows the formation of four oligomers, containing three, four, or five macrocycles, has been developed. This method is based on nucleophilic attack of porphyrins substituted with several pendant pyridyl groups to the electrogenerated radical cation of zinc β-octaethylporphyrin (see scheme). The newly obtained compounds were investigated with regard to their electrochemical behavior.
