Waste watchers: Two diglycolamide-based task-specific ionic liquids (TSILs) were evaluated for the extraction of actinides and fission-product elements from acidic-feed solutions (see figure). Exceptional extraction/separation behaviour and facile recycling of the solvent makes this solvent system a promising candidate for radioactive-waste remediation.
