Pseudomonas aeruginosa CRM100 has a capability to reduce Cr(VI) at a concentration of 1200 mg L–1 under anaerobic conditions using citrate as carbon source. The strain CRM100 is able to reduce 99.8 % of chromate(VI) to Cr(III). The picture shows a centrifuged sample of P. aeruginosa CRM100 exhibiting a green color due to pigment formation and chromate reduction.
