CFD simulations can enhance the understanding of transport processes in multiphase reactors. Therefore, a two-fluid model is coupled with population balance models in OpenFOAM. This approach is capable to describe the complex interactions between fluid flow, coalescence, breakup, and mass transfer and can effectively be applied in the process industry.
