Controllable hybridization of vertically aligned TiO2 nanotubes (TiO2 NTs) with conductive amorphous carbon is successfully realized using a simple surfactant-assisted method and the in-situ anodic oxidation way. The obtained carbon hybrid TiO2 NTs (C-TiO2 NTs) is proven to serve as an ideal "vessel" for hemoglobin (Hb) immobilization and biosensor applications. Enhanced direct electron transfer (DET) of Hb is well observed on the constructed Hb/C-TiO2 NTs biosensor. The biosensor further exhibits fast response, high sensitivity and stability for the amperometric biosensing of H2O2 with a low detection limit of 3.1×10−8 mol/L.
