Simulations reveal that while relaxivity decreases with increasing field strength, very high per ion relaxivities are still feasible. Key high relaxivity design features are: increased inner- and second-sphere hydration, an intermediate rotational correlation time, and for targeted or macromolecular agents, complete decoupling of the local metal chelate motion from that of the macromolecule.
