Objective data and anecdotal reports suggest that mammography access may be declining due to facility closures and difficulty in recruiting and retaining radiologists and radiologic technologists. To gain greater insight into the challenges and concerns of breast imagers, and to establish objective baseline data for the assessment of trends in access to screening, the Society of Breast Imaging conducted a national survey of breast imaging practices in the U.S.
