One hundred twenty-five women with confirmed metastatic or locally recurrent breast cancer were randomly assigned to supportive-expressive group therapy plus education or to an education only control condition. An earlier finding that longer survival was associated with supportive-expressive group therapy was not replicated. No overall statistically significant effect on survival was found.
