This study used the “symptom burden” concept to measure physical/psychological aspects of caregiver burden, and may be the first to document symptom burden in dyads of caregivers and underserved minority patients. Being a family member and caring for a highly symptomatic patient increased a caregiver's risk for a high symptom burden.
