Long-term (25-year) follow-up of patients with high-grade, localized osteosarcoma who underwent surgical resection and received chemotherapy confirms that adjuvant chemotherapy confers a statistically significant improvement in relapse-free and overall survival. Pathologic tumor necrosis >90% after a single cycle of chemotherapy is predictive of overall survival and disease-free survival in patients who go on to receive adjuvant chemotherapy.
