In a series of 444 patients with breast carcinoma, diffuse and multifocal distribution of the invasive component significantly alters breast cancer-specific survival in those who have luminal A, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 positive, and basal-like breast carcinomas. Luminal B tumors and cancers that are negative for estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (triple-negative) have a similar tendency.
