Expression of nuclear receptor NR4A2 in gastric cancer (GC) cells conferred the chemoresistance to 5-fluorouracil, attenuated 5-fluorouracil–induced apoptosis, and increased the tumorigenicity of gastric cells and also contributed significantly to an unfavorable postoperative disease-specific survival of patients with GC, especially for those who received 5-fluorouracil–based chemotherapy. NR4A2 may serve as a significant prognostic and predictive factor and therapeutic target for patients with GC.
