The current study evaluated whether baseline acute and chronic prostate inflammation among men with an initial negative biopsy for prostate cancer increases the risk of subsequent cancer detection in a clinical trial with systematic biopsies. The results indicated that inflammation in negative biopsies for prostate cancer might lower the risk of subsequent cancer detection.
