To the best of the authors' knowledge, the current study is the first large-scale study to determine the impact of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection on the prognosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) in a population with a high prevalence of chronic HBV infection and NPC. Chronic HBV infection represents a significant, unfavorable prognostic factor in patients with nonmetastatic, locoregionally advanced NPC.
