There is substantial variation in the frequency of bronchoscopy and esophagoscopy done in patients with head and neck cancer across hospitals in Michigan. Patients undergoing diagnostic laryngoscopy are more likely to undergo concurrent bronchoscopy or esophagoscopy in low- and medium-volume hospitals compared to high-volume hospitals.
