Shifting the balance: Hydrogen bonds between dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and water, methanol, and ethanol molecules are studied by Raman spectroscopy. Solvent-induced frequency changes in the CSC stretching modes of DMSO indicate the local structure in the binary mixtures under investigation (see figure).
