Super acids: A series of micro- and nanosulfated zirconia loaded with Fe3O4 and other metal oxides (SO42−/ZrO2-MxOy-Fe3O4) have been prepared and characterized. Nitration experiments with these solid acids were carried out to achieve the optimal conditions and their performances were evaluated. By taking the nitration of chlorobenzene as an example, theoretical calculations were used to investigate the interaction between transition metals and chlorobenzene (see figure).
