Glittering clean up: Nanodiamond[BOND]TiO2 composites are synthesized and used, for the first time, in the photocatalytic treatment of water pollutants (see picture). A significant enhancement in the photocatalytic performance is observed if the nanodiamonds are oxidised, containing mainly carboxylic anhydrides, lactones, phenols, and carbonyl/quinone groups on their surface.
