Full circle: In the Diels–Alder reaction between isoprene and methyl acrylate over zeolites, the best catalytic results are obtained with ZSM-5 (see figure). The methyl acrylate conversion is about 60 %, corresponding to nearly complete incorporation of isoprene into the cycloadducts. The optimum productivity is obtained with giant MFI crystals combined with a low density of acid sites.
