The cover picture shows a photograph of a plastic crystal, demonstrating the unusual appearance that these materials can have compared to traditional crystalline salts. The figure also shows the structure of the anti- and syn-isomers of the carbamoylcyano(nitroso)methanide (ccnm) anion. J. Pringle and co-workers report the use of this anion for the development of a new family of ionic liquids and organic ionic plastic crystals in their Full Paper on page 486 ff. The presence of both isomers within the plastic crystals is hypothesized to contribute to the plasticity and solid state conductivity of the materials.
