TiO2 photocatalysis: The increase in the amount of .OH produced on TiO2 is attributed to the promoted adsorption of O2 after modification of the TiO2 photocatalyst with phosphate-treated porous SiO2. The strong fluorescence signal in the .OH-related fluorescence spectra corresponds to high photogenerated charge separation, which leads to the enhanced photocatalytic activity of TiO2 for the degradation of colorless pollutants (see figure).
