Concentrating on the gradient: A full-concentration-gradient (FCG) Li[Ni0.54Co0.16Mn0.30]O2 material composed of rod-shaped primary particles is successfully synthesized, and its morphological and electrochemical properties are compared to those of conventional layered lithium–transition-metal oxides. The FCG material delivers the highest capacity and excellent cycling performance.
