Slagging CO2 off: This paper focuses on cutting down CO2 emissions from its most important industrial sources, steel-making plants, using direct gas–solid carbonation. Direct gas–solid carbonation of steel slag is an alternative route for CO2 capture and sequestration in steel-making plants, as it has the following characteristics: a high CO2 sequestration rate and amount, low raw-material costs, and a large potential for waste-heat utilization.
