A “new” synthetic “pathway“ allows the preparation of tetrazole ligands that were so far not accessible. The synthesis and characterization of new spin-crossover compound [Fe(3ditz)3](BF4)2 is described. Despite of the flexibility of the 1,3-bis(tetrazol-1-yl)propane (3ditz) ligand, a perfect packing of the coordination polymer enhances the cooperativity of the spin transition at Tequation image = 159 K.
