Two long co-ligands with different flexibilities, 4-styrylpyridine and 4-(2-phenylethyl)pyridine, have been incorporated into 2D Hofmann-type coordination polymers [Fe(L)2Pt(CN)4] (L = co-ligand) to form 3D interdigitate structures with different π–π stacking depending on the flexibility of the co-ligand. Their spin-transition behavior is modulated by changing the interlayer packing structure.
