17O NMR spectra of aqueous Nb10O286– were measured after addition of different amounts of base. Evidence was obtained for the formation of protonated Nb24O7224–, Nb7O229– and Nb6O198–. The relative amounts of the different species formed were strongly dependent upon the amount base added, the age of the basified solution, and the identity of base added.
