Lewis acid–base adducts of boroles can be useful precursors for chemical derivatization of the borole system. This paper covers the synthesis of a series of borole-derived Lewis acid–base adducts as well as a brief comparison of the relative Lewis acidity of 1-mesityl-2,3,4,5-tetraphenylborole and 1,2,3,4,5-pentaphenylborole.
