An in situ XRD study conducted in air on Co@m-SiO2 revealed that this solid is stable under ambient conditions and resistant towards oxidation up to 450 °C. Moreover, the core@shell morphology is preserved even at 700 °C in air, which shows the stabilization effect and sintering resistance of this type of structure. Thus, this new material can be handled in air and used in applications where nanoparticle sintering is a key point.
