Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) has attracted much attention for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Furthermore, the electrical conductivity and catalytic activity of PEDOT can be improved by various treatments and forming efficient composite materials, leading to its high performance as a DSSC counter electrode comparable with a Pt counter electrode. This article reviews the progress of PEDOT-based counter electrodes for DSSCs.
