Current methods for determining colocalization of molecules produce varying results depending strongly on signal-to-noise ratios, threshold and background levels. To overcome these deficiencies a novel method - the Gamma-Norm colocalization analysis - is used to quantitatively determine the degree of colocalization in live-cell fluorescence microscopy images for two and more data channels. Moreover, this method enables the construction of images that directly classify areas of high colocalization.
