Thermal stability in air of graphene prepared by different methods is studied by Raman spectroscopy. Bilayer graphene shows much better thermal stability compared with that of single layer graphene. The nature of defects is probed, and it is found that the defects are initially sp3 defects and become vacancy-like defects at higher temperatures. Our results reveal that thermal stability of graphene is strongly dependent on the atmosphere, layer interaction, and intrinsic properties of graphene.
