The composition of the pigments used in prehistoric rock paintings from Abrigo Remacha (Segovia, Spain) has been characterised by μ-Raman spectroscopy complemented by SEM/EDX. Amorphous carbon and a mineral never find before in prehistoric paintings, paracoquimbite (Fe2(SO4)3.9H2O), has been found in a rare bluish black figure. Haematite is the main component of the reddish pictographs.
