A study of the Raman scattering of the phase transition in a graphite and graphitic BC8 (g-BC8) phase at pressures up to 84 GPa demonstrates that (1) there is a phase transition in the g-BC8 phase and graphite at 35 GPa, and (2) both phases transform to high-pressure phases above 35 GPa. The phase transition at high pressure in graphite and BC8 system is reversible.
