A series of π-conjugated polymers consisting of isothianaphthene and dialkoxy-p-phenylene units have been synthesized. The polymers assume an interdigitation-type self-assembled packing structure in the solid state, and molecularly align on the surface of the Pt plate. UV-Vis data have been elucidated on the basis of the π-stacked assembly of the polymers. The polymers undergo electrochemical p-doping at about 0.2V versus Ag+/Ag, and a p-doped polymer film showed a moderate electrical conductivity of 182S·cm−1.
