Amphiphylic copolymers from microbial poly(β,L-malic acid) and hydrophobic amino acids, L-leucine ethyl ester or L-phenylalanine methyl ester, were used for preparing self-assembled nanoparticles. The suitability of these as drug delivery systems has been examined. Anticancer drugs can be encapsulated and released upon incubation under physiological conditions.
