Glycerol, dipentaerythritol, tripentaerythritol, and sucrose are used as core polyols in esters of epoxidized soybean oil fatty acids. The impact of structure and functionality of the core polyol on the properties of epoxy resins and their epoxy-anhydride thermosets was studied. Based on the properties, sucrose, a naturally occurring polyol, has been proved that it is not just “green,” but provides a significant contribution to the properties of the thermosets.
