A star-shaped polymer consisting of a porphyrin core and poly(L-lysine) dendron arms is synthesized and used for doxorubicin delivery. As shown, the drug-loaded complex is uptaken easily by CNE2 cells. In vitro toxicity assay confirms that the complexes shows a higher cytotoxicity under the light condition than polymer or doxorubicin alone, suggesting a potential application in combined photodynamic therapy and chemotherapy.
