Using a low temperature vacuum evaporation process with elemental sources, we have fabricated solar cells with Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) absorbers. We demonstrate a solar cell power conversion efficiency of 8.4%, a number independently certified by an external, accredited laboratory. This is the highest efficiency reported for the pure sulfide CZTS prepared by any method.
