A non-destructive optical method for determining the poly(ethylene-co-vinyl acetate) (EVA) gel content in a photovoltaic (PV) module is proposed on the basis of measuring the diffuse transmission (or the haze factor) of the PV module. This fast approach holds strong potential for an in-line monitoring of the EVA gel content of every PV module produced, which will significantly contribute to the quality control process needed in future high-throughput PV production lines.
